Cookies are small text files stored in your browser when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember preferences, keep sessions active, and, when configured, measure visitor behavior.
| Category | Examples | Purpose | Can be disabled? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Authentication session (login), Language preference (citrachat_locale), In-progress payment cookie | Basic site and account operation. Cannot be disabled. | — |
| Analytics | Google Analytics 4 (citra.chat metrics), Aggregated browsing data | Help understand how visitors use the site. Data is aggregated and does not identify individual users. | ✓ |
| Marketing & Tracking | GTM (Google Tag Manager), Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, Google Ads Conversion | Used when a CitraChat customer configures tracking integrations. The end visitor of the customer's site is the data subject. | ✓ |
| Preferences | Selected language, Display settings | Remember preferences to improve the experience. | ✓ |
Under EU law, no non-essential cookie may be set before you give explicit consent. This means:
When the CitraChat widget is installed on a customer's website, the customer (website owner) is responsible for their own cookie banner and visitor consent, not CitraChat. CitraChat provides the technical tracking mechanism; EU compliance on the customer's site is the customer's responsibility.
The GDPR and ePrivacy Directive may classify tracking pixels (Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, Google Ads) sent from your site via CitraChat as "sharing" personal data for advertising purposes, which requires valid consent from your visitors before those pixels fire. Please ensure your site's cookie banner covers this use case.
Use the "Cookie settings" button in the footer to change your preferences at any time. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings.
Material changes will be communicated by email to account holders and highlighted on this page with a new effective date.
